Privacy Policy

aismells is a mostly static site. The main things worth disclosing are GA4 page analytics and the URL-import tool in the Sniff Test.

Last updated: April 14, 2026

What this policy covers

This policy explains what aismells may process when you browse the site, use the Sniff Test, or ask the importer to fetch an article URL. It applies to the public site at aismells.com.

What information may be processed

  • Basic usage analytics through Google Analytics 4, including page views, approximate geography, device/browser data, referrer information, and engagement metrics.
  • Standard server and security logs from the hosting platform, such as IP address, request path, user agent, and timestamp.
  • URLs you submit to the Sniff Test importer so the site can fetch that page and extract readable article text.

How the text analyzer behaves

If you paste text directly into the Sniff Test, the analysis runs in your browser. That pasted text is not intentionally sent to aismells just to calculate smell matches.

If you use the URL importer, the site makes a server-side request to the URL you provide, extracts article content, and returns the cleaned text to your browser. The importer is meant for public web pages, not private or access-controlled resources.

How Google Analytics 4 is used

aismells uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how visitors reach the site, and whether the Sniff Test is being used. Advertising-oriented Google signals are disabled in the site configuration.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the site does not initialize GA4. You can also block analytics by using browser privacy tools or Google’s own opt-out controls.

Google’s privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Service providers and external links

The site relies on third-party infrastructure and content providers, including Cloudflare for hosting and Google for analytics and font delivery. Article pages also link to outside sources. Those third parties have their own policies and practices.

Why this data is used

  • To keep the site available and secure.
  • To measure which pages and features are useful.
  • To fulfill URL-import requests you explicitly submit.
  • To investigate abuse or operational problems.

Updates to this policy

This policy may change as the site changes. Material updates will be reflected by changing the date at the top of this page.
